Holistic Weaning Workshop

Luxmama Holistic WW(2).jpg

Our weaning workshops are held in small groups (or 1-on-1 sessions) and there are limited spots available.

Weaning is commonly explained as “the process of gradually introducing a baby to what will be its adult diet and withdrawing the supply of its mother’s milk. The infant is considered to be fully weaned once it no longer receives any breast milk (or bottled substitute).”

But more importantly it is also commonly used to refer to the stage when solid foods are introduced to a baby.

After being born, entering the world of food is probably your baby’s biggest next step and is often a confusing time for parents.

The Luxmama Club & Parent Prep asbl can help however!

Our workshop equips new parents to make informed choices when it’s time for baby to explore the world of food. During our intimate holistic weaning workshops we discuss all the topics where you will be faced with choices.

You will be provided with lots of information, demonstration of how to easily prepare and store food and simple solutions to prevent common pitfalls down the line.

Holistic Weaning Workshop – Topics discussed:

  • When (not) to start (guidance as per the Luxembourg’s Ministry of Health (LMH), World Health Organisation (WHO), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), UK Department of health, European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (ESPGHAN)

  • Baby-led weaning (hot topic) and traditional weaning and best of both worlds!

  • What to buy (or rather what not to buy), including where to buy it and suggested reading, useful links

  • Store bought jars vs mama’s own cooking (We encourage real food and wholesome home made cooking but there is a time and a place for jars as well! Learn how to super-charge store bought food)

  • What to avoid giving your baby:  Our focus is on good quality, real food and eliminating processed products

  • Options for First foods and a live demonstration of how to cook it. A strong emphasis is being placed on carefully introducing easy to digest, nutrient-dense real food and having the appropriate discussion with your health professional)

  • Tips to prevent a fussy eater

  • The healing powers of fermented products, bone broth, coconut oil etc

  • There is no “one size fits all” approach – learn to read your baby and what to do when reactions arise

  • Your attitude, how you talk about food and the relationship with food your baby is starting

  • Quality of food – know where your food comes from. Local and organic.

  • Beverages

WHEN

When to book:

A great time to start exploring options and learning is when baby is around 4 months of age so you can slowly and gradually start learning and take a good look at the quality of your family’s current nutritional intake which is going to greatly influence baby's dietary habits. This way, you can set the stage for success by the time your baby joins in on the fun (around 6 months onwards) without having to rush yourself to get organised. But really any time when you are ready to learn more is good. Some even join prenatally.
